On Monday, January 15 2018, the Town of Lexington will commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with its fifth annual family-friendly day of volunteer activities supporting the underserved. We hope it will be a fun and meaningful day. Last year, almost 400 volunteers made a difference in the lives of more than 2,000 people. It's amazing what a community can do! 

A recap of MLK Day in Lexington 2017:
Events began at 9:​00 am with an interfaith discussion about race at Grace Chapel (59 Worthen Road, Lexington). The discussion was sponsored by the Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association (LICA) and the Lexington Human Rights Council (LHRC). At 11:00 am, there was a Unity Walk from the Minuteman Statue on the Lexington Green to Cary Memorial Hall (1605 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington). The Opening Ceremony began at 11:30 am, where performers including Lexington literary performer Regie O'Hare Gibson and the SNAP Sing Along Chorus, shared the spirt of Dr. King's legacy and kicked off the day's service/volunteer opportunities.

  • 12:30pm-2:30pm: Lunch with Seniors at Countryside, Greeley and Vynebrook Villages​
  • 12:00pm-3:00pm: Fleece Scarf and Blanket Making, Cary Memorial Hall NEW!
  • 1:00:3:30pm: Community Day at Waltham YMCA
  • 1:30-3:30pm: Stuffing Birthday Goody Bags with Seniors at Waltham Crossing ​NEW!
  • 1:00-4:00pm: Card Making Lexington Montessori School​
