Lexington's 7th Annual MLK Day of Service
Please see below for affiliated MLK activities on Saturday, January 18, and Sunday, January 19
On Monday, January 20, 2020 the Town of Lexington will commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with its 7th annual family-friendly day of volunteer activities supporting the underserved. It will be a fun and meaningful day, so we hope you will join us. Our goal this year is to serve 2,500+ people through 700+ volunteers. Isn't it amazing to see what our community can do together? Events begin at 9:00 am with a Community Dialogue on Race at Grace Chapel. This year's topic is "The Necessity of Discussing Race and Racism with Your Family at Home." At 11:00 am we will gather by the Minuteman Statue at the Lexington Green and participate in our traditional Unity Walk to Cary Memorial Hall. The Opening Ceremony begins at 11:15 am, where performers including Lexington literary performer Regie O'Hare Gibson and the SNAP Sing Along Chorus, will share the spirit of Dr. King's legacy and kick off the day's service/volunteer opportunities. |

MLK quote of the week: “Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
